'Latest' Google Statistics

HERE are some Google stats, taken today from the ‘company profile’ section of its website which was unfortunately last updated more than two years ago in mid-2005.

It does, however, provide an interesting historical perspective, although it has to be said that out-of-date information is not what you expect from the world’s most important website.

• “Google is the #1 search engine in the Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K., U.S. (Nielsen//NetRatings 6/05)
• “Global unique users per month: 380 million (Nielsen/NetRatings 8/05)
• “112 international domains”

As we know things have changed a lot since then, not least the number of employees.

• “Google's staff includes some of the most experienced technology and business professionals in Silicon Valley and around the world
• “Number of employees: 4,183 as of June 30, 2005, many of whom are technical/engineering”

Staff numbers have since increased by 380% to more than 16,000 in just over two years. According to the latest figures, around 23 people join Google every single day. Perhaps one of them could ensure website info is up-to-date.
